2.Features of Carbide Tool Coatings from OPT company
Tool coating technology can be divided into two major categories: CVD and PVD technology. When choosing a coating, the characteristics of the coating become more important.
(1) HRC, abrasion resistance
The HRC of the coating is one of the best ways to improve tool life. In general, the higher the HRC of the material , the longer the tool's life. The hardness of OPT carbide tools can reach 86 ~ 93HRA at normal temperature, which is equivalent to 69 ~ 81HRC. It can maintain high hardness at 900 ~ 1000 ℃, and has excellent wear resistance. Compared with high-speed tool steel, the cutting speed can be 4-7 times higher, the service life can be 5-8 times longer, and hard materials with a hardness of up to 50HRC can be cut.
(2) Compressive strength
The compressive strength of OPT carbide tools is as high as 6000 MPa, and the elastic modulus is (4 ~ 7) ×105 MPa, which is higher than that of high speed steel.
(3) Corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance
The carbide tools is very resistant to atmospheric, acid, and alkali corrosion, and is not easy to oxidize.
